lubricate the moving parts. Overtime the engine gradually eats up the oil. If it's old, probably isn't lubricating as effectively. When the oil is not effectively lubricating, the engine is going to use more oil to
keep it running smoothly.If you see the level getting extremely low, don't just fill it back up. First check the color and consistency. It may be time to have the old oil drained and filled with new oil.
