Blue Ocean 2012 Nissan Leaf SL FWD

If you're looking for an efficient, eco-conscious, and affordable vehicle to navigate Colorados scenic roads and urban hubs, the 2012 Nissan Leaf SL is a standout option. As one of the pioneers in mass-market electric vehicles, the Leaf SL offers forward-thinking technology, zero-emission performance, and convenient features that fit the active and environmentally aware lifestyle many Coloradans embrace. From Denver's city streets to Boulders bike lanes and Fort Collins progressive neighborhoods, the Leaf SL offers a practical and sustainable ride with surprising comfort and value.

The 2012 Leaf SL runs entirely on electricity, meaning no tailpipe emissions and no gas stations. This is especially attractive in environmentally conscious areas like Colorado, where air quality and sustainability are high priorities. Driving a Leaf also means eligibility for Colorado EV incentives and HOV lane access, even with a single occupant.

With an EPA-estimated range of 38 miles per charge, the 2012 Leaf SL is perfect for daily drives around cities like Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs. Public charging infrastructure continues to expand across the state, including Level 2 and DC fast chargers, making it easier than ever to top off while shopping or dining.

As the top trim in 2012, the Leaf SL includes premium amenities such as:

    Navigation system

    Rearview camera

    Heated front and rear seats

Solar panel spoiler to help trickle charge the 12-volt battery
These features provide extra comfort during cold Colorado winters and add convenience for everyday use.

Thanks to its age, the 2012 Leaf SL is one of the most affordable entry points into electric vehicle ownership. Combined with lower maintenance costs (no oil changes, fewer moving parts), and the potential for used EV tax credits, it's a budget-friendly and future-focused choice.

The Leafs electric drivetrain provides instant torque and a whisper-quiet ride ideal for enjoying Colorados beautiful landscapes. While its not a mountain-climbing SUV, its performance shines on city streets, foothill roads, and suburban commutes.

For Coloradans looking to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing comfort or convenience, the 2012 Nissan Leaf SL offers a compelling package. With zero emissions, plenty of features, and impressive affordability, it's a smart solution for navigating both the Front Range and daily routines. Whether you're commuting, running errands, or simply embracing a greener lifestyle, the Leaf SL is ready for the journey.

    • Huge battery issue kept this car from being great

By Lanzer on Sunday, November 15, 2020

      2.0
Not having to pay for gas is awesome, and for my daily drive to work that's less than 20 miles away, this car does the job spectacularly. Unfortunately, all Nissan Leaf do not have liquid battery cooling. Coupled with the fact that the batteries degrade very quickly makes the Leaf's range drop to about 50 miles after 7 years of ownership. During the 7 years there were no need for oil change, tune up, engine issues, and I didn't even need to switch brake pads thanks to regen braking. If not for the battery issue, this car would had been stellar.
    • Most trouble-free vehicle I have ever owned.

Excellent reliability, lowest maintenance cost possible, car has never had a problem except in 8 years had to replace the 12 volt battery. Only other maintenance was rotating tires and that was covered under warranty. Truly a fun car to drive. Can beat almost anything away from a stop light. Perfect for all the around-town driving and saving our other vehicle from lots of stop and go, short trips which are hard on an internal-combustion engine.
    • The Nissan Leaf - a standout 100% electric vehicle

By Rockiesadventurer on Monday, June 24, 2019

The Nissan Leaf is the top selling 100% electric vehicle in the world for good reason. Here's why I love the Leaf: 1. It is silent, smooth and extremely fast 2. It is insanely cheap to operate (i've run my 2015 68k miles) saving me $~7k+ in fuels costs vs my 22mpg suv. It's paid for itself and I run on sunshine (solar on my roof). 3. I live in a very snowy high altitude mountainous region - snow tires, traction control, a low center of gravity have proven this to be capable 4. heated seats/steering wheel are luxurious Downsides: 1. Range is limited - EV's don't operate like gas cars - its NOT fill and forget...it's like your cell phone...keep it topped off and range fades as a concern - plus there are literally 100's+ of fast chargers being built across the U.S. which will address longer trips
